Got so much routine work to do, took 2 days leave.
2 Oct 73 (Tue)
About 2 am in the morning, the phone rang, was Kong2,
not feeling well, Mum went to call Dr. Liew.
9 am something in the morning, to see Kong2, was on
leave today.
To the show at Rex ‘毒女’，not
bad, the story was about a factory girl raped by a gang of hooligans, and caught
the disease of Vietnam Rose, so she learn how to fight and get revenge.
3 Oct 73 (Wed)
On leave also don’t have my own time, that fatty Mrs.
Wong phoned and disturb me.
Baked 6 cakes, took one to office and spent the staff.
5 Oct 73 (Fri)
Took an office car to Polyclinic and get ourselves
vaccine, cos’ end of this month we are going to Haadyai & Songkla, Shir didn’t
go for vaccine, cos’ she’s sick, always so weak.
6 Oct 73 (Sat)
To tailor’s place and took my dress, she only finished
one dress for me, still got 5 cloths for her to make.
To book store with Cotton, intend to buy her a diary
for her birthday, but none is suitable for her, so bought a set of writing pad
for her. Saw two artistic book $3.00
each, I bought two for Mum, but she returns 6$ to me.
7 Oct 73 (Sun)
Toh, Ong & Tan came, we went to the show ‘心兰的故事’, after the show we went for a drink, met Mr. Kok, asked us to go back
to office and work, so we all went to the dull office, while Ong & Toh were
working busily, Tan & me quietly went back.
Drink a bottle of Brands Essence of Chicken.
11 Oct 73 (Thur)
That snake Mr. Eng go to tell Mr. Kok that I take up
Econs., so Mr. Kok asked me to see him, he asked whether I can manage so many
things or not, book-keeping & Econs., I answer if I couldn’t manage then I’ll
drop either one.
So I intend to drop Econs., since the Company is so
stingy and so hard to claim back fees from Snake Eng.
‘Butterflies Are Free’ is quite nice, was touched by
the story, when the girl left her blind boy friend, the boy looks so helpless.
14 Oct 73 (Sun)
Our newly formed Club ‘The Trend Settle’ held a
meeting at Black Jack tonight. We’ve
paid $3.00 for the subscription, tonight the Club will give out 1$, if we eat
more than 1$, we have to pay out from our own pockets, so before we go, we went
to the Perak Emporium bought two packets of groundnuts.
Suzanne Ng also joined us. We dare not sit inside cos’ we know our noise
will disturb others. We chat and laughed
till 11 pm, Shir waited for her brother to come and fetch her. We talked about the gossip of the office,
12.00 midnight, not very long before she gone, we heard somebody shouting
FIRE! The flames of the fire indicated
the fire occurring place was quite near our house, we ran down to the street
and have a clear look, was shop houses at Hugh Low Street, the fire engine
still didn’t come after a long time, the second house started to burn already,
the flames of the fire was more than 35 ft. high, we could feel the heat also,
something explode, all the people ran, I myself ran after them, cos’ quite
dangerous to watch so near. At about
3.00 am the fire only controlled.
13 Oct 73 (Sat)
Irene suggested to go shopping after work, the new
secretary of Mr. Goon also wanted to follow, Toh & Ong also. But they’ve to work overtime. So I waited for them at house. After work, I bought two chicken burger, 1$
each, for lunch, Mum one myself one.
At about 3.00 pm, Suzanne came to fetch me, waited for
Toh, still not yet finished their work.
I asked Sue to drop me back, but she went straight to tuition, oh god! I
waited for her for 1 ½ hour there, waste my time only, 5.30 pm back to office,
all of them gone already, she afraid that they’ll get angry, so I took her to
Irene’s house, she apologized.
Fat spent us Imperial Room, his birthday.
15 Oct 73 (Mon)
Today is Public Holiday, Quran Reading Competition.
After having breakfast with Mum. Toh, Ong came already, we waited for Mooi
Gek, not long Mooi Gek and Ho came, went to market to buy all those necessaries
that for making Rojak. Reached Irene’s
house, she’s playing cards with her friends, so we started to work. After finished everything, we chat at Irene’s
room. About time to eat, Irene’s Mum
cooked Laksa, when she got everything ready to eat, Shir came, we all said she
was just in time. Finished eating,
everybody helps to clean, except Ho & Ong, didn’t do any things, we all don’t
like their behavior, have to point out in our next meeting.
