遂进舅and his English wife & children were arriving Ipoh this afternoon,
they haven’t took their dinner, so Mum spent them to ‘Maxim’, they wanna to put
up in hotel, so I took them to Hotel Mikarto, he complained that the price was
rather high, he said he can stay in any place, but when Mum phoned to Sar Ku,
he seems not very welcome 遂进舅. They pay a visit to Kong2, met Yee Ku, lead
our way to Sar Ku’s house, about midnight, we have something to eat at Canning Garden
before returning home.
17 Aug 73 (Fri)
Feeling so sleepy in the office, so lunch hour went
upstairs to have some rest on the table.
18 Aug 73 (Sat)
Stomach not feeling well, went to toilet so many
times, swallowed the ‘保济丸’ also no help at all.
To the show ‘北地胭脂’, not bad, about the pros. Of
olden China.
Wan Ku and family have gone to Penang for sight seeing.
19 Aug 73 (Sun)
Borrow 10$ from Mum.
Stomach still not feeling well, Mum asked me to go to
see doctor Liew, said I am diarrhea. Write
me a bill, so I can claim back tomorrow.
遂进舅 came back from Penang, took him to have their dinner at Malaysia.
I like his daughter & son, so cute, but dare not
speak to them cos’ of my poor English.
To Sar Ku’s house and back home quite late.
20 Aug 73 (Mon)
Felt dizzy ‘cos these few nights I slept quite late,
the stomach was pain and uncomfortable, so at about 10.00 am, I took leave and
went back, in front of our office, I waited for the Company car, but none was
there, met Liew, he was banking in at Chartered Bank, I asked him to give me a
lift back.
21 Aug 73 (Tue)
My hair looked like hell, so curly, so phoned 淇 up asked her to take me to any hair dresser and trim my ugly hair.
After work, I rush back, 淇 was
waiting for me, she took me to the ‘Avon’, my hair was trimmed so nicely this
time, shorter in front and quite long at the back, really Shakky Look now,
costs me 3.50$, but after all this is worthwhile.
Spent 淇‘红图麵’, - $1.50
They played Poker till morning, I couldn’t sleep well.
22 Aug 73 (Wed)
Chin bought a ‘Key Book for Carter’s Advance Book
Keeping’ costs 16.20$, she claimed back from Mrs. Wong. Mr. Eng has gone outstation, so Mrs. Wong is
holding the petty cash.
I asked Shir to borrow money from somebody, then asked
Mutthu to buy the books for us, claiming petty cash from Mrs. Wong is much more
easier than claiming from Mr. Eng.
So Tan, shir, & me bought the book & claim
back the money already.
23 Aug 73 (Thur)
Mum cooks 糯米饭for Rocky’s birthday. Got no money to buy present for him.
24 Aug 73 (Fri)
Borrow money from Mum, went to ‘Globe’ bought half
dozen of handkerchief for Rock as birthday present $6.00.
25 Aug 73 (Sat)
Teh asked for transfer to Johore for the Flyover
contract, the bosses also agreed to let her go, so she learnt everything
concerning about account from me, she asked me to teach her how to write
cheques, so I do so, she wrote the cheques for me.
One o’clock, Tan said Mr. Kok wants to see me, so I
went to his room, Mr. Kok asked who wrote the cheques, is it Mr. Wong, I said
it was Miss Teh who wrote the chq. No wonder Mr. Kok asked such a question, cos’
Teh didn’t chop A/C payee on the chq., the amount of the chq. Were quite big, 2
were 10,000$, and 1 was 60,000, all cash chq! If lost in transit, what to do.
Company sure will sack me, it was lucky that before Tan sent out the cheques,
she noticed without A/C payee.
Went back after having my bath and makan, they phoned
me up said were waiting for me at tailor’s place, so I met them there together,
we went to the show ‘Cabaret’, these type of picture wasted money only.
Don’t know why Mr. Goon asked us not to miss it.

Whole day doing book-keeping exercise.
29 Aug 73 (Wed)
They all said the Cambodian picture ‘人蛇恋’ is very nice, after book keeping to the show with Mum, not bad, was a
legend, but the colour is rather dull.
30 Aug 73 (Thur)
Knowing that our Company is organizing a trip to
Thailand in October, Mrs. Y told June, asked her to find out how many of us
wanna go, but the selfish fellow just keeping quiet, if there is no more
vacancies for us to go, we sure all will blame her.
31 Aug 73 (Fri)
Today is National Day, early in the morning, TV
broadcasting the parade at Kuala Lumpur, not long, I heard the Band’s playing,
it was a parade at Hugh Low Street, so Mum and I went out to have a watch, it
was rather warm, my formal school band was playing quite well I admit.
Noon, to the show ‘叛逆’，starring
David Chang and Agnes Chan, got human feeling.
