Doing nothing the whole morning.
Henry phoned me, he was lying to me that he has came to
Ipoh, so 恶作剧，after the phone call, grandma and Mum told me to mark him, but in my
mind I treat him as a friend, granny said some lousy things, seems like I might
married him, how funny? As somebody said ‘love can only be met by coincidence,
but could not find’, I don’t know whether I translate it right or wrong, in
Chinese it is ‘爱情是可遇而不可求的’.
Went to the picture ‘拳击’, very
cruel indeed.
FF and Ngoh Ngoh (润娥)
came, Mum treated them ‘辉记‘.
Chin Hock phoned me, I told him not to talk so long,
for I’ve friends here.
17 Jan 72 (Mon)
After dinner, Shir and I went to ‘Lim & Cheah’
again for taking the anti-polio medicine, but the bastard said the medicine has
finished, told us to come some other day, go to hell! The clinic is so far away
from our house.
Met shir’s friend, he gave us a leave to the book
Store, I bought one 依达’s ‘彩神’
and 老夫子, after that, we went to eat 糖水, I spend of course.
18 Jan 72 (Mon)
Nothing important happen today.
I think I better phone to 宜, tell
her to return my Maxi.
Chin Hock phoned me again.
19 Jan 72 (Wed)
Went to the picture ‘缇萦’ with
Mum and Rocky, quite good, but the picture is a bit old.
20 Jan 72 (Thur)
After work, 淇 came, show me a very
stylish Maxi skirt, I want to make one like that, Mum spend 淇 斋粉粥.
FF and I went to buy Ney Year cards, I also bought
some for my friends, I have received one from Peter, SP, Anthony & Henry,
surely I must reply to them.
21 Jan 72 (Fri)
Lim took us back, so hungry that I ate first, reply
all the New Year cards.
22 Jan 72 (Sat)
淇 came, after dinner, we went to shopping, I bought one nail polish,
brown colour, cost me $2.70, also one material for making shirt, 9 dollars.
Sar Ku（三舅） and family came, brought
some ‘kueh’, 淇 ate a lot, but still wanted to go out and eat, I spend.
淇 stayed here tonight.
Chin Hock phoned me, I felt sick of him, nothing to
talk about, waste the telephone fees.
Ah Lian brought back my Hipsters, she measured my hip
wrongly, so tight that I couldn’t wear it, grandma promise to correct for me, waste
my money.
Send New Year cards to Manager, Tua Ku （大舅）and Lim this morning.
23 Jan 72 (Sun)
Get up early in the morning, went to market with 淇, I treated her 油炸云吞，买点吃的东西回家慢慢享受.
Bought one cheap material, only one dollar per yard, I wanted to use it for a
Dammie.
淇 went home after lunch, just walked up and down the whole evening, went
to eat chicken rice with Mum.
I wanted to change my hair style to ‘Lion Look’, but
New Year is drawing near, everything 起价, even the hair dressing
room also.
Mum helps me to 裁the
Dammie.
24 Jan 72 (Mon) P
Our Lab employ one more Lab Assistant, he is the son
of our factory manager, named See Lay, one more new colleague, our work will
become more easier.
Mum finished my Dammie, looks very nice, I intend to wear it
tomorrow.
25 Jan 72 (Tue)
Wear my new Dammie to work, everybody seems staring at
me, feel ‘Malu’.
Boon Ching asked ‘what fashion are you wearing?’
Mona Lisa asked ‘Is it a 复古装？’
After work, Mona gave us a lift back.
五姨’s son came, brought some jade, Mum wants to buy one for me, costs 100
dollars.
26 Jan 72 (Wed)
Actually today is a public holiday, but our damnit Lab
have work, everybody feeling very lazy, we have prepared tomorrow’s samples,
worked overtime.
Mum bought some chocolates and ‘sour things’ from Yan
Yan Co.
27 Jan 72 (Thur)
Since yesterday we have prepared everything, so we do
not have much work to do today, I bring my song book there to copy songs.
Lim said when bonus comes, he wants to spend us.
淇 and JB came.
Mum taught me a verse this morning, is ‘Love the right
sort, when it comes will comes unsought’.
28 Jan 72 (Fri)
Lim has a new partner, so he laughs in and out, we
feel happy too.
A white cat is sitting at our back door every day, Mum
gives him fish to eat, he looks quite pity.
29 Jan 72 (sat)
Saturday night, felling quite lonesome, Rocky plays
cards with his friends, I got nothing to do.
Mum bought one snake skin leather look for me to do a
mini skirt, Ah Heng 车for me, Mum spend him 包and酸柑水。
Went to book store alone, while crossing the street
nearly bang down by a motor bike, 吓了一身cold sweat, the streets are
so busy, because PATA is drawing near, PATA means ‘Pacific Area Travel
Association’, the representatives from the 23 countries will be meeting in
Malaysia, so the town is fully decorated for the foreigners to visit our
country.
At book store, I bought one ‘Sister Pictorial’ and two
issues of ‘王先生and 朱老伯’.
30 Jan 72 (Sun)
Listen to Pop Songs from my transistor.
Went to the show ‘落鹰峡’，it’s a nice pic.
Sleep early tonight.
宜 & 力 came, but didn’t bring back my Maxi, I told her to
bring back within this week.
31 Jan 72 (Mon)
So fast, the first month of 1972 has gone.
Shir told me everything about herself.
Lim told us to work patiently, after one or two years
we might have a promotion, promote to staff of Lee Rubber, like 明才, one of the Lab. Boys from Kuala Kangsar, at that time our salary and
bonus will be quite worthwhile seeing.
An official letter came, told Rock and me to go and
get our new IC, Rock gets it for me, for I don’t have time.
Went to buy letter pad and New Year card which grandma
wanted, Mum brought some ‘sour things’.
