to see show, FF give us a lift, Rock’s friend Jimmy came with us too.
The name of the show is ‘Billy Jack’.
After the show Mum and I went to ‘makan’, just walked
here and there, stopped at some roadside stall, just to look at the
miscellaneous little things, Mum brought a book shape torch light.
2 Feb 72 (Wed)
To unrip my unfit hipster, grandma promise to correct
for me.
Kong2 plays Poker with them, they played till 2.00am
this morning, made a lot of noise that I couldn’t sleep well.
3 Feb 72 (Thur)
Woke up quite late this morning, quickly finish my
breakfast then go to work.
Shir becomes more and more playful in the Lab. While
working.
When it was about time to go home, that is a heavy
shower, we used newspaper to cover our head, reached the Shell Station, newspaper
has torn into pieces, we took a shelter in the Shell Station, bought two first
day covers, one for PATA and the other one is KL became a city, a man there
wanted to go down to Ipoh, so he gave us a lift.
Eight something, FF came, I bought some panties, and a
ballpen to Shir as a New Year present.
FF got her bonus, so she spent us ‘Diamond
Restaurant’.
4 Feb 72 (Fri)
Lim said he went and get the bonus for us, after
lunch, he came back, said bonus still not yet come, but he has a good news for
us, that is there is a rise in our salary, rise to 109/-, 15 dollars more to
spend every month, gorgeous! We start getting tired of this job, there’s such a
good news for us, so nice, I feel very glad and quite satisfied.
Every month I gave Mum 20 dollars, that is 20% of my
salary, so this month I will gave her 23 instead of 20, fair and square, isn’t
it?
淇 said the movie ‘Baby Maker’ is very nice, so we went to see, not bad.
Spend grandma and Mum opposite, celebrate the rise of
my salary.
5 Feb 72 (Sat)
Shir was on leave today, I went to take bus early this
morning, for I don’t want to be late, but the broody bus was so full, I was
late again, working alone, no fun at all.
Shir went to attend her friend’s wedding, as a bride
maid.
Don’t even speak 10 times today.
The sky is full of clouds, I afraid it may rain, missed
one bus, I am so eager to get home at this moment.
淇 and JB came, went to shopping, I bought one pair of shoes cost $13.80, stylish
one, and a knit-wear cost me 27 dollars, actually the selling price is 34
dollars, this is the last one, so I cut down the price to 27.
Rocky got his bonus, gave Mum and so on each $30, treat
us to ‘Maple leaf Coffee House’, I ordered a cup of ‘Fruit Cocktail Sundae’, a plate of Ham sandwich and
potato chips, costs Rock $7.00 , greedy 淇
said still very hungry, ‘我睬她都ong’。
6 Feb 72 (Sun)
Yesterday went to bed at about 12.00, feeling sleepy
today.
Sunday is a dull day for me!
I intend to order ‘Her World’, read and write more
English in order to improve, right?
A boy simply dial the phone number phone to our place,
I speak to him for a while.
Chin Hock phoned me, Yang also over there, he said he
will send back the money within this day, fire King!
7 Feb 72 (Mon)
Albert got his bonus, treated us dinner at ‘Chao Kee’ 寿记，I ate quite a lot, the food there are very nice, after dinner, we walked
to ‘Far East Record Shop’, I bought two Cantonese records for grandma as New
Year’s present, one is ‘孔雀东南飞’，the
other one ‘断桥产子’，also bought one EP’s ‘Hello Darling’, Albert paid for me. Rocky bought
one Skeeter Davis and ‘Dawn’.
I would grown fat this week, everybody get his bonus
sure to treat us. I myself’s bonus came on Saturday, and now my pocket is
‘kosong’.
Can’t sleep, I think is the effect of the Chinese tea.
Raining heavily, we shelter at the Shell station,
drinking Coke and eating ‘prawn biscuit’.
8 Feb 72 (Tue)
Lim spend us tonight, at about 7.30, I dressed up
already, I wear my blue Middie and my new shoes, Shir said I am very nice,
everything is perfect, except the hair, looking awful. We eat at the ‘Oasis
Snack Bar’, Shir and I choose this place, Boon Ching and See Lay came along, Shir
and I ordered one plate of chicken chop, Jello fruit cup and orange squash, shared
together, not very full after finished all the eating, they order two plate extra fish and chips but don’t even dare to
share with us, stingy fellows.
Boon Ching spend us to the show ‘Hotel Esquire’ 老爷酒店，low class movie.
Feeling stomachache, rush to toilet when they drop me
back.
9 Feb 72 (Wed)
Longing to go and change my hair style for such a long
time. I made up my mind today. Borrow 10 dollars from Mum, went immediately to
‘Helen’ after dinner, cut to Lion Look.
Went back at about 9pm, Ah Looi and Susie, Meggi were
sitting there talking with grandma, once I walked in, they all laugh, felt so
shameful.
Went to eat the Sar Hor Fun at opposite of Marianne.
10 Feb 72 (Thur)
Our bonus came! 100 dollars! But means nothing to me,
I gave Mum 20 dollars Ang Bao, Kong Kong 10 dollars, remainder save in the Post
Office saving bank.
Ah Liam spends us today.
At about eight, we get ready, we thought Liam will
bring some more people, but unexpected, only we three go, no fun at all, if we
know earlier, we wouldn’t go with him, so old and ugly.
At first, we went to Park Hotel, sat there for such a
long time, nobody come and serve us, we suggest to go to some other places. We went to ‘Lam Kok’, no place for car park,
at last went to ‘Lee How Fook’, saw Kong2 and his people there (细妈)。
Ah Liam called three dishes only, 蟹王翅， 炸鸡，and 鱼，cost him $14.70.
Shir went back to change then came over here to listen
to records.
I went to bed at about 12.00am.
13 Feb 72 (Sun)
Early in the morning, went to market to buy materials
for baking cakes, I baked six of them, some gave to friends.
Today grandma’s temper is very bad, because yesterday
Kong2 went to Lee How Fook with them, in order to 避开her,
I ask Mum to go to the show ‘Songs of Norway’, very dull one, but the scenery
is nice.
I wore my Middie, grandma told me to buy this, to buy that, as
tired as can be.
At 11.00 something at night, went out to roam the
street, crowded with all sorts of ‘San Ba Ching’. Cure out hungry stomach at ‘Foo San Restaurant’, Shir introduced her
friend Joyce to me.
14 Feb 72 (Mon)
New Year’s eve, no different from any other days.
Didn’t write diary for several days, so I got mix up
with all the things happened.
Played Jin Rammie with the boys next door, loss $1.20,
Mum loss more than 10 dollars.
Took one paper bag’s New Years gift to Shir, 拜年.
Not very long, she returned one paper bag of gift to
us, 送来送去，不知是什么意思.
Grandma gave me an Ang Pau contained $10, Mum 2
dollars.
Went to Post Office intend to open a saving account,
but crowded with people withdrawing money, go on some other day.
米米 came back from KL.
15 Feb 72 (Tue)
Kong Hee Fatt Choy!! Happy New Year!!! Once we saw
people older than us, we greet them this word, for this is the day of the Chinese
New Year.
Received lots of Ang Bao， at about
11 something, many people came, included 细妈’s
whole family, I have counted there are 37 people crowded in our small parlour.
Shir & Joyce also came, listening to records, I
served them with all sorts of New Year’s food.
Rocky spend us ‘Swee Fatt’, 米,
Albert’s brother came along too.
Went to uncle 曙’s
house, after that, Rock spend us Canning, Ah Tect do the driving.
