2 July 73 (Mon)

Dull and boring with my work, seems like taking a few days off.

 

3 July 73 (Tue)

Felt very sad, ‘cos seems nobody appreciate my work, sometimes if I’ve done quite well, nobody praise, if have little mistake, they’ll said you are careless and all sorts of thing, today I got so many things to do, I know I am in very bad mood, they all went out to eat, I got so many things to do that I can’t go out, nobody helps me, when they came back, Ho saw that I didn’t speak a word, so she asked me what happened, I just can’t keep my sadness that I cried out, they all wondering that what had happened.  Chin thought that she has hurt me without knowing.  First time cried out in the office, but felt comfortable after.

 

7 July 73 (Sat)

Today, quarrel with Tan just because of a trifle matter, tea girl Ah Wan used a glass to fill drink to Tan, Tan said so ugly, I’ve broke mine one, so use mine one to fill & give her, she said I’ve stolen her cup, I said what are you talking about, Wan given this cup to me, so I used it, what’s wrong? Just because of a glass, worth?

Irene invited me to a JKR dance tonight.

After work, went to the picture ’秀才遇见兵，牛鬼蛇神’ with Mum.

Pair2 phone me up said she has came down to Ipoh, she came to my house later, but I can’t accompany her, cos’ I gonna go out with Irene, and I don’t have good impression on her already.

About nine, Irene & Miss Ong came to fetch me, at JKR hall, we waited for the boys to come, where got meaning, so Miss Ong said we better go to eat something first, I feel like going back!

No fun at all, Irene introduce Loo to me, he said his sister is Maggie Loo, this year’s Miss Malaysia.  After the dance, we went to the Chicken Inn and have our supper, came back about 3.00 o’clock already.

 

8 July 73 (Sun)

Early in the morning, Ho wakes me up, asked Rock to go to fetch them, with Phillip, we went to fetch Tan, and Ong, took some snaps in DR Park and Taman Han Tuah, went home in the evening and have a nice sleep.

 

10 July 73 (Tue)

Mr. Goon announced that we all have an increment of $20.00, Miss Chin and Mrs. Wong don’t have, I think we have went out several times with him, our next increment is on Jan 1974.

Way back home, have a look in the Fairdeal, bought two beautiful vast, one is a cat and the other is dog, $4.20 each, gave one to Sar Ku for his birthday, one to Mum.

 

11 July 73 (Wed)

Francis will be transfer to Port Klang on this 15^th, so we are giving him a farewell lunch at Black Jack, each of us gave out $4.00, Black Jack’s set lunch is quite nice.

At night, to Black Jack again with Mum, I order sandwich Hawaiian style, at first we wanted to wait till nine o’clock the band starts to play, but Mum doesn’t want to wait for so long.

 

12 July 73 (Thur)

Now is the durian season, Fat bought us some durians and rambutans.

Claim back $15.00 book-keeping fees, this are the only $15.00 in my pocket.

At midnight, the telephone rang, Kong2 has sent to Our Lady’s Hospital, and have to operates, so Mum and me rush there, we waited till 3.00 am after the operation had over then we went home.

 

13 July 73 (Fri)

Yesterday I didn’t sleep well, so today take one day leave, to hospital and see Kong2, he is now inside the special Care Unit, cannot go inside and see him.  At about 12.00 noon, Tua Yee & Cloud came from Singapore, we stay there for quite sometimes.

Cloud stayed in Yee Ku’s place.

Group of us have our lunch at Kong Heng.

 

14 July 73 (Sat)

Asked Cloud to wait for me after work, but Francis send me back, before going back, they went to have lunch at ‘Chopstick’, about two pm before I reach home, Cloud is waiting for me, we went to the show ‘The Brave Bunch’, it seems is an adult film, Cloud is very greedy, ate so many things still not feeling full.  Took a taxi to hospital & see Kong2, stayed there till 7 o’clock.

Shir & I gonna spend her to Black Jack tonight, in office, Shir phones to ask for reserve a table for us.  Rock wanted to go with us, he called Phillip along.  In Black Jack, the lift is so full so we walked up to the sixth floor, Oh! They didn’t reserve a table for us, so we better made a move to the ‘Maxim’, everyone of us also feel hungry, for we didn’t take our dinner yet.  Shir & I have to give out $10.00 to foot the bill.

Rock has bought the ticket for the midnight show ‘丹麦娇娃’, lousy picture, very low class.  After the show ate at Lian Seng.  Cloud stays in our place.

 

15 July 73 (Sun)

Woke up early, to hospital, then all of us went to the Siamese Temple.

Have our breakfast at Ah Wong’s place.  Cloud bought some slide film to take the houses of Ipoh, Brian drove the car, but was too warm at this time, so to Sar Ku’s house, ate the sweet rambutans, we just couldn’t stop eating it cos’ its so sweet.

After rounding Ipoh, we have some ice Kachang to cure our thirst.

With Cloud, we went to the picture ‘虫女’，horrible picture, but I was too tired that I slept half way through the show.

16 June 73 (Sat)

After work, run to the Post Office at the back of our house, but so lousy, the girl in charge said no money, have to withdraw in the General Post Office, damnit.

To the show ‘刺马’with Mum and Boy, quite nice.

Fat came back from Hongkong, bought me a jade bracelet, HK money 300$, a pair of house slippers, post cards and so on.

 

18 June 73 (Mon)

Early in the morning, went to work, didn’t wait for Shir, half way met Cheong.  Still early Post Office not yet open, so I ate a bowl of curry mee at the clock tower, it was about time, I went to Post Office and withdraw all my money out, all together 270$.  At lunch hour, I went to the Mercantile Bank and opened a saving account there.

From today onwards, me and Chin stop our 搭食, so gonna went out to eat.

At night, Fat spend us to Hollywood Coffee House, I ate a big chicken in basket, met all my friends there.

 

19 June 73 (Tue)

To the street store and ate the fried meehoon, saw Mr. Goon, he said he has settled the lunch for us.

shir recommend a kind of cleaning liquid for me, it was called ‘Infa Care’, actually was used by infant, costs me $2.50.  Mum always said I waste my money to buy all this sorts of things.

 

20 June 73 (Wed)

Intend to go to the show ‘谁的错’, but full house, so have some things to eat at the ‘Diamond Restaurant’.

 

22 June 73 (Fri)

At 6.00 pm, we booked a taxi and went to the show ‘Mr. Super Invisible’, really enjoying.  Before the show, we went to the ABJ coffee house.

 

23 June 73 (Sat)

Revising my book-keeping, ‘cos tomorrow is my Pitman Advance Book-Keeping exam.  Till 11.00 pm then watch the TV’s midnight show.

 

24 June 73 (Sun)

Stomachache, period!

So before I go to the exam, I swallow a pill.  The questions are all done before already, except no. one, couldn’t balance, this is the question Sir shows to us also, but we are too lazy to do the question, hope I can get through the exam.

After the exam, me & Shir went to the ‘Nizam’, ate Mutabat and susu.

After the exam, we felt like 放下一块石头。

 

25 June 73 (Mon)

Mum made the stuff chicken, very delicious, I like it most.

 

26 June 73 (Tue)

No bosses today, Mrs. Wong also didn’t come, for her elder brother has passed away.

We are all king of this office today.

FF came back from Hong Kong, Rock spends us to ABJ, I ate fish and chips.

 

27 June 73 (Wed)

Today is Mum’s birthday, after work way back, I stopped at the ‘Fairdeal’ and bought her a present, it was a barrel saving bank, costs $8.00, Shir also bought one Memo caddy for her.

In the office, I write Mum a letter, every girls in the office also write a short note to her, then asked Muttu to dispatch to Mum.

At night, we ate at the Chopstick, Shir & FF also joined us, then to the Maxim Coffee House and have something light, the waitress poured the cold water onto Mum’s head accidently, lucky Mum wore a jacket like dress outside, ‘cos she feel cold, so she gotta took down the outer layer of clothes.

 

28 June 73 (Thur)

Tan and Ong came to my house after work, asked me whether I want to join them to the show ‘谁的错’ or not, got nothing important to do, so joined them, Tan spend me.

 

29 June 73 (Fri)

That day I got nothing to do, so I asked them to draft a letter to Mr. Goon asking him to revise our salary for our present salary is insufficient to meet the high cost of living.

So today, he called all of us in and said he will try his best to help us, hope we can get it.

Fat bought some durians, very nice to eat.

 

30 June 73 (Sat)

Got our salary today, hate Mr. Kok, always showing his temper.

Irene, Tan, Ong, Toh, Shir to my house tonight, we listen to music, talked, laugh, and eat.

At about time, to eat ‘taugey’ at 金山, Rock gave me 10$ to spend them, but Ong paid the money first.  Toh & boy friend went to midnight show, so they came to my house after supper, and wait for Toh to come and fetch them, we chat till 1.00 am.

2 June 73 (Sat)

Got up early, breakfast at Nam Kok Restaurant, sleepy for the whole morning.

To the show ‘What’s up Doc’, really joking! Ate at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Kong2 is sick, to see him after the show.

At 8.30 pm, Chin came to fetch me, introduced me to his boy friend Henry, also Jimmy & David, quite friendly.  To Tan’s place & fetch her. To King’s, got floor show, so to May Flower, also have Magic & Floor Show, doesn’t matter.  Jimmy was just staying behind my house, he said he saw me often, he was working in Payne Davis, just opposite our office, David looked like David Cheang, working in the Income Tax Department.  Have our supper at Memglembu.

 

4 June 73 (Sat)

We have bought the ‘Carter Book-Keeping’ text book for quite some times, now me & Shir are broke already, so we went to the Book Store where we bought the book, and asked the man to write a receipt for us, so that we can claim back from our Company.

We claimed back $19.00 dollars, how nice.

 

5 June 73 (Tue)

In the office, Shir & I decided to go to the show ‘What the peeper saw’, after work, it was raining, so we went home by trishaw.

Today is 五月节, Mum said why don’t we go to the early show, I said Shir can’t make it cos’ she got to celebrate the festival, so about nine, I went to call her, she said she don’t feel like going, I was so angry, when Mum knew it she was angry too.  The picture is not bad, but without Chinese sub-title.

 

6 June 73 (Wed)

No work ‘cos today is our Agong’s birthday.

To all the shops wanna buy a present for FF, but none is suit her.  In the evening to Perak Emporium again with Mum, bought a box of sweet for her cost 4.00$, Mum gave her a pencils container.

Bought a man purse in Lendo, costs 13.50$, but the man less for me, I bought it at 10$, Mum says I waste my money.  Everyone in the office also said so.

 

8 June 73 (Fri)

Our company’s sub-contractor Cheah Sai Keat wanna spend us tonight, so after book-keeping , Shir waited for him to come to my house, it was raining heavily, we thought he won’t be coming, Shir is so hungry ‘cos she didn’t take her dinner.

At nine something, he came, so to Tan, Ho, Mrs. Wong, Chin’s place and fetch them.  We suggested the newly opened Hollywood Café House, I ate fish and chips, Mrs. Wong & Ho ate two dishes, crab salad & fried crab.  Chin’s dish so long still didn’t come, we have finished ours already, so asked the waiter, he said Mrs. Wong has eaten hers, order again, but Chin still not finished, they took her plate away, we all said poor old Chin Chay.

 

9 June 73 (Sat)

Tan wanna go to Penang, she said her father let her use the car, but no driver, so ask Rock to be the driver, so after work her father came and taught Rock everything, but the car broke down near our house, asked a foreman to repair, at last can manage to start, Rock, Phillip, Ho & Tan one car, me & Shir go in Toto face’s car, half way, Shir vomits, we are not willing to go, for we got no money, but forced by them.  At five we reached Pair2’s house, took a bath then rest.  Have our dinner in her house.

We went straight to the ferry terminal, Rock’s car broke down again, couldn’t reverse, ‘cos we were in a row to cross the ferry, so Rock came down to push the damn car, we girls sat in the other car cross first, we put up in the Peking Hotel, $12.50 1 day, not bad, phoned to Pair2 at once for help, she said she’ll meet us at 10.00 pm in the ‘Sky Room nite club’, so we changed and walk around the town, our hotel is situated in the shopping centre, so just simply walk here & there, no money & no mood to buy anything, halfway, met our Company’s driver, he said our bosses were having a meeting somewhere.

At ten, me & Shir walked back to the hotel, saw a store selling dried meat & bread, we bought two to fill our stomach, Rock, Philip & Toto face were waiting for us in front of the hotel, but Ho & Tan disappeared already, so we went to the opposite Continental Hotel & waited for them, not long, Pair2 came with Liew, her brother & girl friend & another friend also to the underground Nite Club, but full house, so to Merlin’s revolving Coffee House, nothing to see, worse than KL one, we sat there for quite sometimes, then discovered that Rock, Phillip & Liew had disappeared, Pair2 suggested to make a move, her brother’s girl friend Ah Mod insists to go to Nite Club, so called the waiter to settle the bill, we sat in separate table, but Ah Mod asked billed together, in my table all are Pair2’s people, I am the only outsider, the other table are our people, they should paid theirs & we paid ours, but Pair2 asked her brother to walk away and find Liew, also asked the other friend to walk away, so naturally the bill was paid by Toto’s face, 25$ dollars, so unfair for him to pay.

So Ho, Tan, Shir & me don’t want to go to Nite Club, if go, sure paid by us again.  So we said we were very tired wanted to go back & have some rest, bought some bread to eat in hotel.

When Pair2 has left, we went to have some makan at the Gurney Drive, enjoy ourselves.  Car ride, back to Hotel at about 3.00 am.  Just now Rock & Phillip went to service the car, Rock feels dizzy up the Merlin， so have something to fill his stomach, they two forgive by us at last.

 

10 June 73 (Sat)

The telephone rang us up, it was Pair2, she is coming over to Penang & spend us crabs.  But instead she spend us just ordinary mee, no crab, nothing.  To Pulau Penang Emporium bought some Penang special food.

Back to hotel have a bath packed everything, Rock paid the hotel bill, each of us gave Rock 10$ for sundries expenses, ‘cos he’s broke also.

Lunch beside the sea side.  Julie Ho bought lots of cosmetic, but lucky didn’t tax one cent.

Left Penang at about three, reached home almost six.

 

11 June 73 (Mon)

Off today, last week I jaga the phone.

Sleep for the whole day.

Pair2 will be coming down to Ipoh next month, I think we won’t welcome her, as she behave herself like that when we were in Penang.

 

14 June 73 (Tue)

Lots of work is waiting for me to finish, this one haven’t finish, the other one pass to me, so after work, I still stay back to work, and also waited for Shir, she jaga the phone this week.

 

15 June 73 (Fri)

Bluff Shir that I will be going to KL to work, she believes me, ‘cos I stopped my lunch from today onwards, gave 5$ out, gonna go out to eat on Monday.

Took all my saving from Post Office & put into the Mercantile Bank.

After book-keeping class, Shir spends us opposite, crabs!

The Book-Keeping exam will fall on next week, I am sure that I’ll fail, don’t understand at all, but I’ll try my best to answer the paper.

16 May 73 (Wed)

Claimed back my book-keeping fees from Mr. Eng, got extra $15.00 to use.  Our Director Mr. Goon, written a letter saying that any staff take up a course, the fees will be paid up by the Company.

In another way, that means I’ve increased 15$.

Shir’s 3 months probation period has over, got 20$ increment, her book-keeping fees 15$ & short hand fees 6$, 21$ claimable, in other words, the Company has increased her 41$.

Julie gave us, Shir & me each a colour photo album which sent back from Japan, those were the photos we took in Lumut.  Mine one is not so nice, either no head or no feet, cos’ Shir has no experience in taking photo, the one I took with them are really nice indeed.

 

17 May 73 (Thur)

Vesak day, public holiday, clean my drawers, gave all the rubbish to Mum, now my drawer is clean & neat already.

To Perak Emporium, bought two bras, 6.60$ each, used 13.20$.

 

18 May 73 (Fri)

Francis & Chan Kit Far claim back their petty cash, wanted to spend us, Cheah Swee Kong came back, Francis gave him the 10$, asked him to pay the rest if exceeded 10$, 10 of us to ‘Magic Bowl’, I ordered Roast Chicken & Ham with a bowl of vegetable soup, Tan & Ho follow me, each of us eaten him 3.80$ already.

The bill came, altogether 37$, Cheah Swee Kong paid 27$, poor thing.

Mrs. Wong, Ong & Ho came to my house, called Shir along, Mum spend us to Canning.  3 women made a market, so six of us got two markets inside Mrs. Wong’s car, making so much noise.

After eating to my house again, took all the album & let them see, 11.30 pm they left.

 

19 May 73 (Sat)

Each of us contribute a few dollars, go to the Sam Poh Cave to eat 斋，really cheating, no meat nothing, wanted 20$ for 8 of us, after eating, not full at all.

Bought one mirror in Lendo 3.00$ dead broke already.

Today I do the pay sheet, they said I must be mad, cos’ today is only 19^th of May.

 

23 May 73 (Wed)

Borrow 35$ from Mum, went to get my new dress, but not yet ready.

 

24 May 73 (Thur)

Again, we like to have our dinner at Peking Restaurant, haven’t been there before, but full house again, so to Imperial Room, ordered so many dishes, can’t even finished, really a waste of money, they like to go to the picture, I said don’t mind to go on some other day, cos’ my stomach is aching, period.

 

25 May 73 (Fri)

Fat spent ‘Magic Bowl’, I am rather full, so just simply order a Magic Bowl Fantasy Sundae, a plate of chicken cutlet, couldn’t finish.

 

26 May 73 (Sat)

Have an appointment with dentist Chew after work, Rock spent Irene, Joyce, Shir & me to ‘Magic Bowl’ to have our set lunch, we just enjoying our lunch, that bloody Toto face, said that we were wasting his time, cos’ he wanted to go to Penang, Roger & Rock scolded him, he said he doesn’t want to send us back, Irene & me were rather angry with him, so at dentist Chew’s place, Irene get down with us, she took a taxi back.

I have got 7 teeth to mend, today Chew mend 3 for me, on Monday I gonna do the other four, he counted me half price only six dollars, cos’ I known myself as Yip, Shir’s sister made the appointment for me, she’s working together with Mrs. Chew.

To the tailor and took 2 of my new dresses, quite nice.

Went home, about 3.00 pm, with Mum we went to the picture ‘Waltz King’.

 

27 May 73 (Sun)

Baked cakes for Dr. Liew, together I baked four.

Ong, Ho, Tan， Chin to my place, to the show ‘木屋’at Majestic Theatre, very nice picture, I’ve read this story before.

 

28 May 73 (Mon)

Everybody in our office also gossiping about the news printed in the Straits Times, it was about our Director Mr. Goon with a girl in the Tiger Lane, robbed by two armed youth, everyone thought that the girl must be Ho, cos’ Goon likes Ho very much.  Today Ho just keeping quiet for the whole day, don’t even wanted to talk with us, we just worked like normal, but Ho said why everyone of us starring at her as if she has done something wrong.

Took the Company car to Dentist Chew’s place, costs me 10$ this time, got no bad tooth now, wanna take good care of my teeth from now on.

 

29 May 73 (Tue)

Early in the morning, Mr. Goon asked us all to go inside to his room, his wife also in there, they explain the whole matter to us, said that night he was with a friend (male) decided to go hunting, but don’t know which place to go, so stop at the Tiger Lane & discuss about it.

We all said they are planning story to cheat us.  Goon also scolded June & Francis for teasing Ho.

 

30 May 73 (wed)

Tonight, one of the Torsco staff Gomez is getting married, at the last minute we decided to go.

Missed our book-keeping class, at 8.30 pm the driver came & fetch us, I wore my black velvet, I looked very fair.

These was the lousiest dinner I’ve ever attended, nothing to eat, the food all smell bad.  We were all still hungry after the dinner, so asked Mrs. Wong used the Company car drive us to Menglembu to eat 云吞面, before we go, to Mr. Goon’s house, and asked his permission, Mrs. Goon asked us to come down, she spent us 棕 she made herself, Mr. Goon show us the slide, about twelve before he sent us home.

 

31 May 73 (Thur)

Got my salary.

Mum came to our office today, spent Mrs. Wong, Shir & me 光兴, after lunch, chat at our office.

To Kinta, cheap sale, bought a bottle of Avon perfume talc, costs me 8.00$, heartache, raining, we went back by trishaw.

Bought a powder box at Perak Emporium.  Returned 40$ to Mum, 供会20$, gave Mum 20$, lunch 10$, broke again.

1 May 73 (Tue)

Labour Day, slept for the whole day, but gonna go to work tomorrow ‘cos I took leave often, bad impression to the bosses.

 

2 May 73 (Wed)

Tons of work waiting for me to finish.

Got our salary.

标了会, save 150$ in Post Office.

 

3 May 73 (Thur)

Bought a piece of velvet from Kamdar & one small flower one, 18.00$.

 

4 May 73 (Fri)

Pair2 is leaving, so Shir, Onky, YY, Ho, Chin & me spend her to the ‘Magic Bowl’ opposite our office, set lunch 3.20 per person, it was almost two we still didn’t finish, so we wrap some & took back to office, really joking.

To the show ‘The Get Away’, ‘cos no electricity at home, living in the dark as well go to the cinema to past the time, so damnit that the cinema also got no air-condition, sweating through the whole show.

 

5 May 73 (Sat)

To take my new dress at the tailor’s place, two costs me 5.30$ only, her needle work is not bad.

Accompany Shir overtime till 2.00 pm, fried Mee for lunch.

Liew bought a second hand lousy car, took Pair2 to my house.

We went to midnight ‘五羽大盗’, went in, shown half way already, I slept throughout the whole show.

Ate fish & chips at Maxim.

 

6 May 73 (Sun)

Like to have some rest, but Rock woke me up, to Christine’s house & Julie’s too, with Toto face & Rock we went to Maxim, not long, Pair2 & Liew came to join us, we tease them.

They wanted to go to Kampar, Pair2 & me refused to go, so to Shir’s place, she got work tonight, said later she’ll join us, at 8.00 pm, Mum spend us to Diamond Restaurant.

 

7 May 73 (Mon)

Liew took Pair2 to my house again, with Shir, Rock we went to eat at Canning Garden.

Again went to bed late.

Mr. Goon gave Pair2 & Mr. Liew a lunch in the Ipoh Club, I have never been there before, the set lunch is delicious, I drink Baby Champ.  Me & Ho stole two beautiful flowers from the toilet.

 

8 May 73 (Tue)

To night same group of friends gathered in my house, we listened to songs, Pair2 started to like to listen to music, influenced by us I think, chit chat till quite late, before we went to eat the ‘Tow gay’ in front of 金山, met Irene, act like hell, hate her in this manner.

 

9 May 73 (Wed)

Every night went to bed so late, today, I have a headache, must go to bed early.

Pair2’ll be leaving on Saturday, so only few days left together with her, I gave her two letter pads which bought from S’pore years ago.

She gave me a perfume which her brother brought back from England, and a bottle of nail polish.

To 华南and have our supper, called Christine along, but she was sick.  Back home at almost 12.00 midnight.

 

10 May 73 (Thur)

Four ‘Dunhill’ cigarette salesman came to our office, I bought a packet costs 9.10$ for Kong2, offer three empty plastic box, one to Mum, Kong2 & myself.

To the show ‘Fistful of Dynamite’ with colleagues Tan, Ong, shir we spend Pair2, bought some prawn crackers, pop corns to eat inside the cinema, & made lots of noise.  After the show have some refreshment in the ABJ coffee house, then phoned to Mrs. Wong, she’ll join us later.

Mrs. Wong drives us to Ipoh Swimming Club, just have a look there, then to Memglembu to eat the famous ‘Wan Ton’, we were all enjoying and happy to go out these way.

Laugh a lot tonight.

$3.00 for each one to spend Pair2.

 

11 May 73 (Fri)

We were spending the whole week with Pair2, tonight is her last night in Ipoh.  Waited till 10.00 pm， Liew still didn’t bring her to my house.

At last she came, went to Canning with Toto face’s car, then car ride for a while, almost one, to the ABJ coffee house, Shir & I called ‘Shandy’, no fun at all in the ABJ, ‘cos too smoky & noisy, sleep at 2.00 am, lucky tomorrow is half day.

 

12 May 73 (Sat)

Mr. Liew is also transfer to Butterworth, working together with Pair2, so we gave him a lunch in the Lee Brother Restaurant, each of us 3.00$ altogether 24.00$, still got 2.20$ left, so Mrs. Wong’ll made a children’s day later.

Sleep for the whole evening, Shir brought back the new dress for me.

Fat wanted to spend us to the newly opened ‘Peking Restaurant’, but unfortunately full house, so Maxim again, fed up of all those western food already, so I order S’pore fried Meehoon & apple juice.

Rocky dated Toto face said going to Taiping today, so early in the morning, he came, I decided to rest on this Sunday, cos’ I sleep late for the whole week, but couldn’t refuse, to Irene, Linda, Christine’s house all not in, so warm in the car, to Rock’s friend’s house, not in also, Rock suggested to go to the hospital and visit Yee Kong, his leg is broken in an accident.

Felt quite dizzy.  After some maken in the Malaysia Restaurant, thought he’ll send us back, to Julie Ho’s house, damnit, she said too tired to go out with us, so we sat inside the car & chat, stayed in her house for some times, before we go, Julie asked us to take her nephew for a car ride, after the car ride, the little kid doesn’t want to get down the car, so Julie came in the car & one more time, reached the MGS school, Julie changed her mind ask Toto face to send her home to change, then she’ll go out with us, wow, the whole day I spend inside the warm car.

Took Julie’s mother & sister to friend’s house, then to YY’s place.  Toto face went to tape songs, after that, we have something to eat in the ‘Fairmont coffee house’.

Send YY back, fetch Julie’s mother & sis, I nearly die, I think I’ve travelled 100 miles at least today. Waste my time only man.

 

14 May 73 (Mun)

Kong2 sick, so we went to see him, Sar Ku sent us back, Mum spent ‘Malaysia’.

It was quite late, the telephone rang again, ‘Say Ma’ said Kong2 is feeling cold, asked Mum to call Dr. Liew.

Rocky came back with Toto face, so I asked Toto face to give us a lift there, Kong2 is feeling better before we left.

 

15 May 73 (Tue)

Fat spent us to the newly opened ‘Chopsticks Taiwan Porridge Restaurant’, the food there is quite delicious.

Then to the show ‘合气道’, so many people, I afraid couldn’t get the tickets, lucky met Francis, asked him to buy for us.  Same old fighting picture, I don’t understand why Rocky seen two times.

16 April 73 (Mon)

Today is the birthday of Prophet Mohamed, public holiday, I have dated few of my colleagues to come to my house and made something to eat.

Eight sharp, Julie & Pair2 came, not long Ong & Tan came also, to Shir’s place, she’s not free till afternoon, so few of us went to market to buy all those necessary materials, met Toh just came back from KL, she’ll join us later.

We made Rojak, hamburger, sweet potatoes soup and so on, after we’ve done everything, to upstairs and dance, later Toh & Shir joined us too, made so much noise, we eat, dance & sing, what a happy day we have passed today.

 

17 April 73 (Tue)

I am off today, because last week I jaga the phone.

Yesterday’s food each of us contribute 2$, got two something left, so to Perak Emporium, bought some cattle fish, a tin of sweet & chocolate, tomorrow we’ll have a happy children’s day.

Washed my hair at ‘Helen’, bought all those laces & buttons for my new dress.  Took the jacket style shirt from Liew, after so long, that bloody Liew still not yet finish for me, so gonna finish by myself.

Mum spend us 暖炉at Imperial Room, 26$.

Chat with Shir till 9.00 something.

Today at lunch hour, I phoned to office and chat with all my good friends.

Don’t know why my stomach is not feeling well for these few days.

 

21 April 73 (Sat)

After work, took three pieces of cloths to the tailor.

At night, Fat spent us to the ‘Diamond Restaurant’ and have our dinner.

 

22 April 73 (Sun)

Went to market alone, but the Hugh Low St. was blocked ‘cause there is a procession to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad. 

Also to the Cold Storage and bought the special offer chocolate.

Julie Ho came, she said that Mr. Goon was waiting outside with some Japanese, he asked whether we could accompany them to Lumut or not, I said I was not feeling very well, so went to Shir’s house and persuade Shir, she said unless I go she goes, so at last I said okay-lah.

Almost reached Sitiawan we have our lunch there, bought some fruits like mango & 柑, start our journey again, reached Lumut, Mr. Goon drove the car around the village, he drove to the beach, but the sand is too soft, the tires went inside the sand, the car couldn’t move anymore, everyone of us gonna get down and have a push, under the red hot sun, all of us felt so warm and thirsty, the tide is moving inch by inch toward us, after more than one hour, some Malay village boys came and help us, successful this time, Mr. Goon gave them some shillings.

Reached Teluk Batik, found a fine shady place and settled down, the men went to swim, we sat there and chat, eat.  They bring a camera, we took lots of colour photos.  Period came at this time, reached home almost eight o’clock.

 

24 April 73 (Tue)

Shir’s turn to attend the phone call, I waited for her till six o’clock today, ‘cos last time she was waited for me almost the whole week.

Asked Shir to give me a leave form, I wanna take 1 day leave on next Monday, Tuesday no work, so I got one stretch of 3 days together.  Intend to go down to KL on this coming Saturday.

 

25 April 73 (Wed)

All our A/C clerks wore shorts to office, we were going to shift over to our new office at next door, everyone of them also gave us a helping hand.

Everyone of us also got our very own table now, quite spacious, now we can do our work properly.

 

26 April 73 (thur)

Attend the Malay class at Kaying building, Inche Ayub show us the 自动电影taken in England, very poor production, the whole thing was shaking, all of us felt dizzy.

To the show ‘骗术奇中奇’, quite funny and special.

 

27 April 73 (Fri)

To the store at ‘Lucky Restaurant’ with Francis and Sergeant Chan Kit Fah in order to shift back all our files, ‘cos at our new office, there’s an upstairs to keep all our files.

Arrange the files made me felt tired.

Mr. Cheah Sai Keat spend us Ah Kai’s fried Meehoon.

Packed all my clothes, we are leaving for KL tomorrow.

This morning, Shir has phoned Jackson and made all the necessary arrangement.

 

28 April 73 (Sat)

Quite busy today, but after work, although I haven’t finished my work, I left all my job aside and got down to wait for Shir’s friend to come and fetch us.

We bought some Malay Kueh to fill our stomach on the journey.  Rest at Tanjong Malim, went with Shir, her friend Tong and one other friend, reached KL at about five, stayed at the ‘Grand Hotel’, rang Jackson again, he was so tired ‘cos yesterday he slept at 3.00 am, today after work waited for us to arrive at 5.00 pm, he and Clarence came, took us to the RRI Club, met all our RRI friends, we were so glad to meet each other, have our dinner together, our friends were Au Kam Seng, Sin, Wong Meng.  To Jackson’s house after the dinner, I think over 10 miles from the former to later place, felt sleepy, ‘cos the whole day we were travelling, Jackson couldn’t join us, he was engaged tonight, Sin and Clarence were with us, to the ‘Time Tunnel’ no fun at all, we have been here several times before, the band and the singers were good.  Hated Clarence to hold me so tight while dancing, so suggested to go back.  After supper, went back to hotel at about 2 am, we won’t go out with them anymore, ‘cos no fun, tomorrow we’ll phone up Anthony.

 

29 April 73 (Sun)

Ah Tong woke us up early in the morning, have our breakfast at the Town House Hotel Restaurant, after finished, just roam around the town, me & Shir intended to go to the Ampang Shopping Centre, but Tong don’t know the way, but was so lucky that we reached there without asking anybody the way, these complex is quite large inside, but many shops inside still not yet open.  The things inside are very cute but quite expensive, bought something for Mum and a comb for myself, costs $3.50 a comb only at the cottages.  Bought a few piano pieces for Mum, like ‘The Persian Market’ & ‘Love Story’ – 10$, felt tired, so went in the ‘Palong Dulang Coffee House’ inside decorated like a tin mine, the waitress dressed exactly a Dulong washer, we drank coffee & ate sandwiches, Shir phoned up Anthony, no one answer the call, rang up twice then we gave up.  Glancing for the last sight before we left the Ampang Park, took a taxi down to the newly opened Weld Super Market, all the shops were not opened on Sunday, following we walked to the nearby ‘Fitze Patrick’, also new to this town, shir wanted to buy a pair of shoes, but all the shoes seems don’t suit her taste, instead I myself bought one pair of white shoes, $18.50, Shir bought a Poster 18$, one small one for my belated birthday present, printed there a pair of lovers hand in hand in the scene of sunsets, word written there ‘Yesterday….., very lovely.  Almost four, we still haven’t take our lunch, so to the ground floor coffee house, before we go down, at the Bata shop I bought a pair of ‘Toto’ slippers, ‘cos it looks like Toto, fat & cute, there Shir phoned to Anthony, he got headache, so asked Henry to come & took us back to Hotel, we got so many things to carry, I bought one dustbin also.  We ate fried rice & orange freeze, think that Henry would come on time & pay the bills, but we were wrong, after finished and waited for so long, he still didn’t come, so we better made a move back to Hotel, don’t even know the way back & there’s no taxi, we thought to go & ask the European to give us a lift , heard somebody calling our name, turned back saw Henry and his friend standing there waving at us, they sent us back to the ‘Grand Hotel’ before they left, said shall come to take us out at about eight.  Took our bath, rest for a while, I felt like sick, exhausted and felt cold, asked the boy to bring me a cup of Holick.

At about eight, they came, don’t feel like going, Shir insists me to go, better don’t let them down, to the ‘Intan Bowling’, shivering inside the air condition room, begged them to take me to the ‘Thrifty Super Market’ nearby & buy me the ‘Panadol’ tables, waiting for the empty lanes, they played their games, I feel like dying. Not long, started to sweat feeling better now, they suggested to have some refreshments at the ‘Ship Coffee House’, outside looks like a ship, inside also, the waitress all dressed in sailors style, got captain also, I order chicken noodles soup, after finished the hot soup, much more comfortable now.  It was 12.00 midnight, they took us to Gombak Lee Rubber, woke Chin Hock up, he was so surprising to see us.

To the Hilton Hotel’s Coffee House ‘The Planters Inn’, really splendid inside, we walked around the Hotel, from Melacca Room to the upstairs Shopping Arcade, to the Negara Hall & Raja Hall, like palace, saw so many doors, a row of three at each side, in a shape of Rock, we press the button, ‘ding’ the door behind us opened, not the door in front of us, we said just like Ali Baba’s ‘open sesame’, it was a lift, we run in and simply press the button, the speed is fantastic, we all dizzy when coming out.  In the coffee house, we saw a man holding a big board with two bells beneath it, written on it ‘Henry King’, we all laugh, ‘cos we have seen this from the picture, it means somebody is looking for someone.  It was Anthony, he joined us, told us a lot of dirty jokes, back to Hotel at about 3.00am.  packed our thing for we are leaving tomorrow. 

In KL stomach is not feeling well, went to toilet so many times.

We didn’t bring our I.C. so nearly couldn’t stay in the hotel.

KL develop very fast, lots of shopping complexes are almost finish, few months later, would like to bring Mum along to KL.

 

30 April 73 (Mon)

Seven in the morning, phone rang us up, Tong asked us to get ready, to his friends place, then walked round the Petaling Street, felt so tired, we bought 10.00$ of 杨桃for Tong, for he paid the hotel bills for us.  Intend to go to the newly opened coffee house ‘Boeing 747’, but got no time.

Reached Ipoh at 4.00 pm, after eating & taking bath, to bed straight away.

At night not feeling quite well, to Dr. Liew’s clinic, quite high fiver, lucky tomorrow is Public Holiday.
