我的英文非常之差，现在拿来看（23-1-77）吓死人也，想把它烧掉

1 January 73 (Mon)

This diary was presented to me on my 22^nd birthday by 淇.

Early in the morning, colleague Pair2 and her friend came to visit me, we went shopping, but most of the shops are closed, have a look at the ‘Perak Emporium’, I like to buy bra, but tried so many types, not even one that suits my taste, instead I’ve bought two monkey banks for Mum and Rocky as New Year present, Mum likes it very much, cost me 5.20$.

Fish gave me the photos which took in her house that day, not bad.

Rocky and his friend asked me to go to the ABJ Coffee House, Rocky wanted to call Irene along, but she has slept when we reached her place, so asked Christine to go with us, Rocky’s friend Ah Wong round the whole town to find Ah Choong, at last he was found in our place.

In ABJ, I ordered hot cocoa and pancake, Highland Pancake is very nice, made with eggs, flour, coconut milk, and in the centre they put dried coconut and with honey on top, so delicious.  Bought half a dozen cakes for Mum.  Not too long, the tailor Liew joined us, and paid the bill.  We chat till 11.00 pm.

 

2 January 73 (Tue)

Today is my off day also, because last week I attended the phone calls from 5 to 6 o’clock.

To Cold Storage with Mum, bought chocolate, apples and ground nut.  Unrip my skirt and shortened it.

Picked my eyebrow.

To Shir’s place, she has fallen sick for quite a few days.

This morning Mrs. Soon phone me and said that I was lucky because of my off day, she said some of the girls from our office were sent to KL for training by Mr. Y, I didn’t go to work, so I was not in the list, they were training at the telephone school to learn how to operate the telephone.  How nice to go to KL and have one month vacation there, no work but still got pay, I wish he’ll send me there.

 

3 January 73 (Wed)

Toh said Mr. Y wanted to extend his business and recruit more girls to join our Company, so asked me weather I got friend wanted to work or not.  Immediately I think of Shir, after work went to her place, she hasn’t recovered still, I asked her to write an application letter pass to me, so that I can take to Toh tomorrow, in the letter she has written recommended by Tan T H, hope she can get the post.

Paid 10$ for my lunch fees.

Got two Med-Bumikar-Mara’s calendar.

 

4 January 73 (Thur)

Received Ricky’s letter, his writing very hard to understanding.

Got all those old Christmas card home for Mum, some Japanese one very nice.

Ah Wong came and sat there for the whole night, wasted my time to chat with him.

 

5 January 73 (Fri)

Today I have learnt one more new thing, that is go to the bank and buy the bank draft for Mr. Kok.

Everyone seems don’t understand my Cantonese, they said I always speak the high class Cantonese, am I?

It was nice to know that Mr. Eng and Francis were going to S’pore this evening, I don’t like them, so I said to Pair2 we shall celebrate tomorrow by spending her kachang puteh.

 

6 January 73 (Sat)

Half day, went shopping with 淇, simply bought a bra 5.20$ in Kinta, have our lunch at ‘Kong Fatt’.

To the show ‘老与小’at the Majestic Theatre, very dull one, wasted money only.

shir came to my place and we chat for the whole night that I got a sore throat now.  Ate Ho Hee, Shir tomorrow got work, so we can’t go to the Tamil film ‘Elephants my friend’.

Received Clarence’s letter and photo! So ugly the photo he dare sent to me.

 

7 January 73 (Sun)

To market, to market, to buy all those lousy things.

Rocky brought back our Pekinese dog ‘Toto’, so cute, but still very small, can’t even walk properly.  Mum gave all the dirty Guinea pigs to Fish.

I intended to change my hair style to Lion look again, but no money, it needs at least 8$, and got to set it every week.

Fat spend us at ‘Ipoh Restaurant’.

 

8 January 73 (Mon)

Mr. Kok asked me to cash $10,515.90 from the Mercantile Bank, he said better ask someone to go with me, but everyone is also busy, at last Ho went with me.

Albert is quite wealthy after the death of his father, I said I don’t have money to perm my hair, he gave me 10$, HA!

He wanted to spend us supper, I suggested ‘Maxim Coffee House’, I ate a ‘Princess Chicken Chop’ and strawberry milk shake, Mum chicken Maryland, he gave the waitress 1.60$ tips, just simply throw the money.

 

9 January 73 (Tue)

Shir came to my place and told me that our Company called her for an interview on next Tuesday, we chat for several hours.

Fat tonight spend again, we like to go to the ‘Park Hotel’ and eat crabs, Liew also follows us.  Ordered 3 plates of fried mee and chili crabs. Wow! Full already after eating so much.

Shir purposely came to take Liam’s monthly fees ‘会银’, but forgotten till she gone back I only remember.

 

10 January 73 (Wed)

After lunch, got nothing to do, asked Pair2 to go to the ‘Ipoh Library’, I borrowed four story books, ‘午夜的约会‘，‘不认识妳多好’，‘破落户的春天’，‘偶然’。

Chan gave me a lift back.

 

11 January 73 (Thur)

Asked office boy Muttu to buy the ‘My Friends Elephants’ ticket for me, Shir gave me four dollars, she spend Mum and me, got 25￠ left, I asked Muttu to keep it.

Lunch hour, with Pair2 and Toh, we went to Mrs. Soon’s house, her house is not well decorated.

Went back with Pair2’s car after work, quickly go to bathe because the show is started at 6.00 pm, bought some cakes to fill the hungry stomach, the show is about the elephants so faithful to his master, but at last killed by somebody by mistaken, quite touching.

12 January 73 (Fri)

Decided to perm my hair, so went to Helen Hair Dressing at 6.00 pm.  They asked me to change to Beach Boy’s look.  9.00 something when I got back, promise to go to Shir’s place, we have our supper together.  They charged me 9.00$ for my hair.

 

13 January 73 (Sat)

Everybody in the office is teasing me because of my hair style, but they said I look much younger like this, but no more sexy already.

To the picture ‘爱奴’ with Mum, not bad.

At night, Shir spend me curry mee, we’ve met each other for nearly one week, but still got so many things to talk about.

Wanted to buy some New Year cards at the book store, but didn’t bring money, damn sore!

 

14 January 73 (Sun)

My hair style look quite nice, so went to take photo at the Lido Studio, but Sunday they didn’t open, I insist to take, so the man said okay, and took the postcard size for me, after taking he ordered a glass of ice Milo for me.

To the book store bought 姐妹 & 老夫子.

Tomorrow is Hari Raya Haji, the boss of Maraputra invited us to his house, he got a buffet for us.  At 6.30 pm Chan drove the Company car to fetch us all, I felt dizzy after reaching there.  Inche Ahmad’s house is near the Aerodrome, his house is so big and nice, looks high class too, all the bosses and wives were there already, the buffet got satay, curry beef, sweet and salty rice wrapped in banana leafs, fried meehoon, and etc. etc.  I made myself a big plate of food, we went to the upper floor to eat, Che’ Ahmad open the other side of the door, wow! Another sitting room, with carpet, piano and decorated so nicely, I admired too!

After filling our stomach full, we sat at the garden and chat, Mr. Y asked us to challenge drinking with him, we challenged all the directors, and beat them flat, I drank five glasses of ‘Couvoseir’, felt my face hot, we enjoyed so much, and the Directors are so friendly to us.  It was quite late before the bosses all left, we overjoyed and found that we don’t have a transport to go back, after saying good night and thank you to the master of the house, Mr. Y and Mr. Wong send us back, we six of us squeeze at the back of the Volkswagen.

 

15 January 73 (Mon)

Nine o’clock get up, Public Holiday!

Felt hungry, and period came, buy the ‘South Hall’, ate breakfast with Shir, then buy some New Year cards at the book store.

Ho came, we talked about last night’s occasion, she spends me lunch.

Shir came to practice her typing for she’ll interview in our office tomorrow.  I said I gonna tell her something next week, she’s so anxious to know, HA!  It’s only I wanted to give her a photo.

To see my photo, not bad, Mum asked me to develop two styles, she gave me half the money.
