Mum came to my office, to have our lunch together at
Kong Heng, to Jamadas, Fairdeals, and the newly open‘s ‘Perak Emporium’, quite
big inside, but very crowded.
Finished all my short hand exercise.
17 September 72 (Sun)
Sleep for the whole day.
Reply Clarence’s letter.
18 September 72 (Mon)
This week is my turn to attend the phone call after
work, very nervous and scared, couldn’t sleep well for the whole night through.
Not very much phone call today, I went home at six,
gonna go to the short hand class, so tired after coming back.
19 September 72 (Tue)
Paul Yew wanted me to make some phone call out, but
the opposite side got no reply, I’ve to wait till 6.00 pm something, pouring
cats and dogs, walked home alone, Shir said to come to my office, but she didn’t
, because of the rain.
20 September 72 (Wed)
Ah Toh gave me a funny name called me ‘Tea Pot’
because my surname ah ‘Wu’ is the same with ‘壶’,
and today I am wearing ‘smock’ like a big stomach tea pot, I make myself look
like a tea pot , one hand is the handle the other is the mouth, they all laugh.
Received a letter from the ‘Oxley Travel Service’ of
Singapore, called me to have an interview on 30th of Sept as a
travel conductress, they said in another name this type of job is prostitute.
21 September 72 (Thur)
Almost finish Chow Kee’s bloody table, made my eyes
nearly blind, so difficult to see the figures, so many phone calls today, I mix
up all. Yang phone me, I said ‘this is
71088’, ans: I know. ‘whom do you want to speak to?’ ask two times, ans: ‘Wu
Sha Sha’, ‘who is calling please?’ 2 times, ans: ‘Yang Kok Han’, so funny.
22 September 72 (Fri)
This week I am so tired, I nearly fainted down
yesterday, gonna attend the class, doing home work, sometimes can’t finish I
bring to office to finish. Mum told me
to walk around when I am tired of the work, so I went to dispatch letters with
Miss Wong, or have some makan at downstairs.
2 new girls came this week, Monday and Yun2. Mr. Teh asked us who want to join the Torsco
or Universal Plant, attached to one company has more prospect, but they’re
shifting to Tasek, it’s troublesome to travel so far, although transport
allowance is given.
23 September 72 (Sat)
Fat gave me a lift back at 2 o’clock, to Perak
Emporium, bought something special.
To attend the wedding of Norani’s brother, go and
fetch Toh, Ong, & Wong, quite a lot of food to eat, enjoy very much, after
the dinner, got no transport to go back, four of us standing there just like a
fool, luckily a boy called Chong has a car to send us back, after sending the 3
of them back, that fellar said why do we go back so early, let’s go and have a
drink okay? I said up to you, then he took me to the Blue Diamond, I insist
that I’ve to go back early, because I didn’t bring my key & my Mum is
waiting for me, he took me to have a look at the not yet open Disco, it’ll open
next month, went back at 11.00 pm something, Mum is waiting for me, and Rocky
has went out to look for me, they think I am lost.
24 September 72 (Sun)
Raining in the evening, has a glass of Shandy in my
hand and a packet of ground nut, Mum, Rock, Cheah & me spend the evening.
25 September 72 (Mon)
I’m off today, because last week I attended the
phone. To pay the phone fees for Kong2,
check my blood group in Dr. Liew’s clinic, my blood is under ‘O’ group. Washed my hair in Helen costs 1.00$. At twelve, to the show ‘The Organization’,
quite exciting, but got no ending.
Received Clarence’s letter.
26 September 72 (Tue)
At lunch time, we went to Kong Fatt to buy the thread
for crochet, I bought two purple threads, asked Onggy to teach me, after work I
stay back and learn from her, with Toh we window shopping for a while, at about
six, I came back, Mum & Sar Ku are leaving to hospital to see Kong2, I went
along, Kong2 is so glad when he saw me.
27 September 72 (Wed)
Once I start to crochet, I am lazy in doing my short
hand home work.
Today, Mr. Wong CT asked me to go into his room and
ask me whether I want to work under Torsco or not, I don’t feel like going, so
I answer him said it’s quite troublesome to travel so far to Tasek and got no
transport.
Lin Yan2 gave me a lift home on her motor bike.
Went to see Kong2 again in the hospital.
28 September 72 (thur)
Actually Kong2 is gonna operate today, but doctor said
his heart is not strong enough to operate, so he’ll come out and stay in ‘Say
Ma’s place for some times.
Seems raining everyday, because of the monsoon season,
so heavy rain after 5 o’clock, Toh gave me a lift back.
29 September 72 (Fri)
Today we all been scolded by Mr. Y, because we made so
much noise.
Accompany Mrs. Soon to buy the cups in the Fair Deal,
everyday also eat the fried mee.
30 September 72 (Sat)
The staff of Torsco & Chye Hin also got their pay,
except us, Mr. Y said no cheque is gonna go out today, God! They said Mr. Y is
in very bad mood these few days, because of the problems of the accounts.
淇 said came and fetch me, but I waited so long still hasn’t came, so I
went back with Yan2, she took me to her mother’s house. With Christine along they came to my place,
still raining, they went to shopping, I’ve got no money, so I didn’t go with
them.
To 9 o’clock show, we sat upstairs, 2$. Mr. Teh gave each of us a ticket for the
dance ‘Malam Rasa Sayanng’ at St. John on the 7th October 72, Irene
gave me 2, now I’ve got 4.
30 September 72 (Sat)
Mr. Teh wanted me to go to Tasek next week, I told Mum
about it, she phones to Mooi2 asks her to tell Mr. Y not to let me go.
Went to the show ‘十四女英豪’,
bought upstairs seat.
