Ah choong（short one） fetched us back after work, because he is free.
Albert has came back from Penang, bought me a ‘Natural
Wonder’ powder 6.20$, I gave the money back to him, because I told him to
buy. He spends us to the D.R. Park, he
orders 怪味蟹，炸蛤， we enjoyed very much.
2 August 72 (Wed)
Ah Choong came and fetch us again, he is marking Shir,
I also got the advantage of being go home by free lift.
At night, we just have a look in the Ipoh Emporium.
3 August 72 (Thur)
At lunch time, Choong came and took us to town and
have our lunch, we ate at the Malaysian Restaurant.
At night, the whole group of us went to the D.R. Park,
I said to Wong that I’m gonna introduce Shir’s sister to him, he feels malu.
5 August 72 (Sat)
Have our salary, bought a cloth for pajama.
力 came, I went out to buy something with him, bought a story book ‘Graduate’
and also latest issue of 19 Magazine, came back at about 10.
7 August 72 (Mon)
When I was watching the Cantonese film on TV, grandpa
called me, because somebody has came, called LS，
wanted to give me a job in his office, he asked me some questions, told me to
go to his office tomorrow, he wanna introduce the staff to me. His office is ‘Malayan Building Development’,
at the 1st Floor of the Chartered Bank. It was situated at the Business Centre, I
like this type of job, to make more friends, much better than the Lab, only 3
of us, getting tired, when I’ve gone, poor old Shir’ll be left behind to
accompany Ah Kam.
This afternoon, Shir spend me to the Siamese Laksa
together with Choong.
8 August 72 (Tue)
I was so excited that couldn’t even sleep well last
night. Shir went to work alone.
At 10 something, went to the Malayan Building Development
with Mum, Mr. Y led us to his room, he said I could come tomorrow and transfer
a girl to another office, because too crowded, he said I have to be trained for
two weeks, and told a lady Mrs. Soon to take care of me, a bit scared at that
time really. Salary is 120$, tomorrow I don’t
know how to mix with them. Kong2 taught
me to write a letter to the Manager of United Gee Seng for resigning. (wear
yellow skirt).
9 August 72 (Wed)
Went to market to have our breakfast, Mum shown me a
short-cut to the office, but she’d shown me a wrong way, I nearly get lost,
exactly 8.30 am when I reached there, just sitting there the whole morning,
another new Malay girl Zainab teaches me how to Photostat, Mrs. Soon told me to
type a copy of statement.
At lunch time, I went to Albert’s place, he spends me.
Walked home with Norani, Shir is waiting for me, told
her everything already. (wear smock).
10 August 72 (Thur)
Ate at Nam Kok Restaurant, Miss Toh told me to type an
appointment letter, didn’t type for such a long time, so type it all wrongly,
Mr. Liew taught me the method, I’ve wasted 10 sheets of paper, Miss Wong said
that the papers are very expensive, told me not to let Mrs. Soon know it.
Time for going back, I still got few letters to type,
but I think I better finish it by tomorrow.
Lunch time, went out with Miss Wong, ate a bowl of
Laksa, made me stomach ache.
Ah Choong and Shir came and fetch me.
Felt very tired indeed although not much works to do.

11 August 72 (Fri)
Finished all the letters, included my own letter of
appointment. Help the girls to do their work.
They took me to a place where the food are all sold to
clerks of this area, very cheap and nice, we ate a big bowl of mee only 60&
only.
12 August 72 (Sat)
Very free today. Mr. Y has came back from Bangkok.
We have half-day on Sat. so I went back at 1.00pm.
Went to the show ‘吉祥赌坊’with
Mum.
At night, Ah Choong came, we went to eat something at
Canning Garden, he told us his love problems.
Chin Hock phoned me.
13 August 72 (Sun)
Now we can only go to the show on Sunday evening,
because we can’t leave Kong2 alone at night.
Went to the show ‘Wuthering Height’, very nice show
took from a famous novel.
14 August 72 (Mon)
We have our lunch at the clock tower, the curry rice
are so hot.
Type 20 copies of statements. Everybody seems does not like the girl
Christine, so proud and no manners.
15 August 72 (Tue)
I always go to lunch with Miss Wong – Mopico and her
sister. We are standing opposite our
office and ate the prawn mee.
Ate at Canning, when we reached home, Yang &
brother came, accompany them to eat at ‘辉记’，talked until one a.m., don’t know how to get up tomorrow morning.
