At two, Shir came to our office and interview, I am
quite busy today, but I tried to come out and see what she was going on.
Everyone also said that she got a good chance, because
Mr. Liew likes her.
‘Oasis’ now has changed to ‘Kentucky Fried Chicken’,
so we went to have a try, too bright inside and got no air condition, really
suffer inside. Mum orders a snack box,
very delicious.
17 January 73 (Wed)
Fat bought 3 durians and some ‘mangosteen’.
Toh phoned me, talked about bonus, maybe I got half a
month only, better than none at all. She
also told me about the gossipers of our office, especially that bloody Ah Chan,
I hate her so much, damnit, go to hell, so ugly so get jealous about us.
Took Pair2 to Tailor Liew’s place, she wanted to make
a trousers.
The principle of the Sakthi Commercial School asked me
to join the 5-6 o’clock’s class, but I miss the class today.
18 January 73 (Thur)
Just 5.00 o’clock, Rocky, Tailor Liew and his friend
came to fetch us, they spend us to ABJ Coffee House, after coming out from the
office, so cold, in the ABJ, we still order the ‘Strawberry Parfait’, Pair2 ate
a little bit only, for she couldn’t stand the cold, two of us share a ‘snow
ball cake’.
I knew where Pair2 lives after sending her back.
19 January 73 (Fri)
Window shopping with Toh and Irene, myself got no
money to buy.
Have our dinner at the Ipoh Restaurant, somebody phone
there to me, it was the principle again, he asked me why I didn’t attend my
class, I said I’ll try my best to go next time.
Shir promise to go and buy record with me, I waited
for her to finish her class, till 8.30 pm she only came down. At Far East Record Shop, we tried a few
records, intended to buy one Donny Osmond and Mary Hopkins, but they don’t have
a new one for Mary Hopkins, so buy the Donny one.
Spend Shir ‘Look2’.
20 January 73 (Sat)
After work, with Pair2 we went to the Ho Kwong Cheong
Gold Smith for I wanted to buy a gold ring which I saw that day and like it
very much, I’ve borrow 20$ from Mum, and return when I got my bonus, if no
bonus I also don’t know what to do. The
ring costs me 23$.
Gave Kong2’s letter to Mr. Y, quite scared.
At about 3.00 pm something, Toh phoned me and asked to
go back to the office and help her to type something, lucky Sar Kim was here,
so she gave me a lift there.
Worked to almost 6.00 pm before we went back.
Sleep early.
21 January 73 (Sun)
At about 12.00 noon, Ah Choong came, so asked him to
drive us to Shir’s working place, we sat there for awhile, she still not yet finish her work, so
we went to June’s place first, asked her to have lunch with us, but she busy
baking cake, so promise to take her out tonight. To Perak Emporium, buy some cakes to fill the
stomach, at two to the laboratory again, help shir to finish her work, on the
way back, to Julie Ho’s place, together with her we went to the ABJ Coffee
House, joked a lot.
Mum cooked chicken rice, Shir, Fat, Teck and friend
ate here, we intend to go and buy some durian, but none.
9.00 to Irene’s place, ABJ again, ate pancake &
milk.
22 January 73 (Mon)
Very sleepy, because yesterday I was out for the whole
day, went to bed early.
Mr. Y interview a lady as her personal secretary,
today she came to work, she’s very nice looking, got a type of elegant looking
and personality.
23 January 73 (Tue)
Went to take my photo, cost me 7.00$.
But not bad, I send one to Shir, this was the thing I
gonna tell her, she has waited for the whole week, hope she’ll not scolding me
after all.
24 January 73 (Wed)
A Japanese guest came to our office, Inche Khusari
asked Toh, Mrs. Soon & me to take him out and round Ipoh town as a tourist
guide, we went with the Company’s air-cond Mercedes, to Perak Cave, Sam Poh
Cave, Siamese Temple, bought a bunch of rambutan for him, he also took some
photos with us. No need to work, how
nice.
Lunch hour, to Library with Toh, returned the books,
fined 20￠.
25 January 73 (Thur)
The Vietnam War will stop at 28th Jan 73
7.00 am, the whole world also glad to hear this.
Talking about bonus, we new girls got one month only,
we said Mr. Goon is so unfair, June got 2 months, some 1 ½ months, we said he
should gave us 1 month at least, and if you like to increase the one you like,
then go ahead.
Got our salary today.
26 January 73 (Fri)
Accompany Pair2 to Tailor Liew’s place and get her new
trousers.
Mum, Rocky & me have our dinner at the Ipoh
Restaurant, Tailor Liew spend.
This few days, in office I made all sorts of mistake,
Mrs. Wong asked me better go to the temple and 转运.
Mr. Kok asked Chow Kee to go to the site office after
New Year, so they gonna get one more A/C clerk, Mr. Eng interview so many
girls, so I go to Mr. Liew’s room, and asked him how about my friend Shir, Mr.
Liew said that one is good, and he’ll recommend to Mr. Eng, I asked him to keep
this in mind.
27 January 73 (Sat)
Went to the Mercantile Bank, so many people, because
New Year is near.
Bought a pair of shoes in Kinta, costs me 16$, got a 4
inches heel, so tall after wearing it. I
became 5’7” already.
Ho came to my house, spend me again, I gonna tread her
back on Monday.
With Zuo Boy and Mum, to the show 猛龙过江，can do, after the show to Ipoh Emporium & bought something, ate at
next to M’sia Restaurant, Mum felt dizzy, so called a trishaw back.
28 January 73 (Sun)
可可 came, her father said she wanted to buy a T-shirt, so went to Perak
Emporium with her, I myself also buy a pair of stocking & cakes.
At 11.00 to old town, I only bring 2$, because I know
the more money I bring, the more I used.
But saw a Smock Tee-shirt there, like it very much, went to Fat’s place
and borrow 20$ from him, 可可 wanted 10$.
Just reach home, Toh came, I got no pants to suit my
new smock, so with Toh to old town again, but Medo didn’t open the shop, have
some drink, met Rock and friend, spend lunch, send Toh home, then to Julie’s
place, have some drinks at Maxim, I got sun burnt for the whole day out.
Fat came, return 14$ to him, 可可
still owe him 6$. He took us to the
Perak Emporium and buy some milk and biscuit for Mum whom has fallen sick. To dinner at Mun Tien Restaurant.
Back home, shir came, gave us peanuts and 柑, she got her bonus, how nice, I am dead broke, borrow 10$ from her.
29 January 73 (Mon)
Our Company is having a dinner at Lee How Fook for the
auditors, I wore my maxi which was just newly made, I was in a hurry and poured
out almost the whole bottle of the Max Factor Foundation, it cost me 8$, upset
for the whole night. The dishes were
very lousy, so after the dinner, we wanted Mr. Eng to take us and eat some
where, so to ABJ, unfortunately full house, Irene suggested Kok Kee Restaurant,
Irene, Toh & me rushed to the toilet, at last, three of us went in at the
same time, really joking! We ate a big
cup of ice cream, including crabs & prawns, really full this time.
30 January 73 (Tue)
Pair2 bought some oranges and came to see Mum, but Mum
has recovered already, she went with me to buy a pair of trousers for matching
my new smock, but none, so went to Tailor Liew’s shop ‘Gardon’ asked him to
make one for me, jeans type, he charged me 15$.
Mum asked Pair2 to have dinner here, got chicken and so on. Shir brought the record Mary Hopkins one for
me, so all together, I owe her 19$.
31 January 73 (Wed)
Still not yet gave us the bonus, so sian, borrow 60$
from Francis, tomorrow the 60$ bonus return to him.
They treat me like an office girl, go up and down to
the bank, as if cannot put the things together and went once a day, after
coming back from the bank, they asked you to go & bank in again, bloody
boss.
Mr. Eng said that I gonna go to the store at the
upstairs of the Lucky Restaurant and search the file after Chow Kee has gone to
S’pore, so I went there with Chow Kee & Chung Phe this morning , so dirty
& all in a mess, how to search, sure die this time.
