Claimed back my book-keeping fees from Mr. Eng, got
extra $15.00 to use. Our Director Mr. Goon,
written a letter saying that any staff take up a course, the fees will be paid
up by the Company.
In another way, that means I’ve increased 15$.
Shir’s 3 months probation period has over, got 20$
increment, her book-keeping fees 15$ & short hand fees 6$, 21$ claimable,
in other words, the Company has increased her 41$.
Julie gave us, Shir & me each a colour photo album
which sent back from Japan, those were the photos we took in Lumut. Mine one is not so nice, either no head or no
feet, cos’ Shir has no experience in taking photo, the one I took with them are
really nice indeed.
17 May 73 (Thur)
Vesak day, public holiday, clean my drawers, gave all
the rubbish to Mum, now my drawer is clean & neat already.
To Perak Emporium, bought two bras, 6.60$ each, used
13.20$.
18 May 73 (Fri)
Francis & Chan Kit Far claim back their petty
cash, wanted to spend us, Cheah Swee Kong came back, Francis gave him the 10$,
asked him to pay the rest if exceeded 10$, 10 of us to ‘Magic Bowl’, I ordered
Roast Chicken & Ham with a bowl of vegetable soup, Tan & Ho follow me,
each of us eaten him 3.80$ already.
The bill came, altogether 37$, Cheah Swee Kong paid
27$, poor thing.
Mrs. Wong, Ong & Ho came to my house, called Shir
along, Mum spend us to Canning. 3 women made
a market, so six of us got two markets inside Mrs. Wong’s car, making so much
noise.
After eating to my house again, took all the album
& let them see, 11.30 pm they left.
19 May 73 (Sat)
Each of us contribute a few dollars, go to the Sam Poh
Cave to eat 斋，really cheating, no meat nothing, wanted 20$ for 8 of us, after eating,
not full at all.
Bought one mirror in Lendo 3.00$ dead broke already.
Today I do the pay sheet, they said I must be mad, cos’
today is only 19th of May.
23 May 73 (Wed)
Borrow 35$ from Mum, went to get my new dress, but not
yet ready.
24 May 73 (Thur)
Again, we like to have our dinner at Peking
Restaurant, haven’t been there before, but full house again, so to Imperial
Room, ordered so many dishes, can’t even finished, really a waste of money,
they like to go to the picture, I said don’t mind to go on some other day, cos’
my stomach is aching, period.
25 May 73 (Fri)
Fat spent ‘Magic Bowl’, I am rather full, so just
simply order a Magic Bowl Fantasy Sundae, a plate of chicken cutlet, couldn’t
finish.
26 May 73 (Sat)
Have an appointment with dentist Chew after work, Rock
spent Irene, Joyce, Shir & me to ‘Magic Bowl’ to have our set lunch, we
just enjoying our lunch, that bloody Toto face, said that we were wasting his
time, cos’ he wanted to go to Penang, Roger & Rock scolded him, he said he doesn’t
want to send us back, Irene & me were rather angry with him, so at dentist
Chew’s place, Irene get down with us, she took a taxi back.
I have got 7 teeth to mend, today Chew mend 3 for me,
on Monday I gonna do the other four, he counted me half price only six dollars,
cos’ I known myself as Yip, Shir’s sister made the appointment for me, she’s
working together with Mrs. Chew.
To the tailor and took 2 of my new dresses, quite
nice.
Went home, about 3.00 pm, with Mum we went to the
picture ‘Waltz King’.
27 May 73 (Sun)
Baked cakes for Dr. Liew, together I baked four.
Ong, Ho, Tan， Chin to my place, to the
show ‘木屋’at Majestic Theatre, very nice picture, I’ve read this story before.
28 May 73 (Mon)
Everybody in our office also gossiping about the news
printed in the Straits Times, it was about our Director Mr. Goon with a girl in
the Tiger Lane, robbed by two armed youth, everyone thought that the girl must
be Ho, cos’ Goon likes Ho very much. Today
Ho just keeping quiet for the whole day, don’t even wanted to talk with us, we
just worked like normal, but Ho said why everyone of us starring at her as if
she has done something wrong.
Took the Company car to Dentist Chew’s place, costs me
10$ this time, got no bad tooth now, wanna take good care of my teeth from now
on.
29 May 73 (Tue)
Early in the morning, Mr. Goon asked us all to go
inside to his room, his wife also in there, they explain the whole matter to
us, said that night he was with a friend (male) decided to go hunting, but don’t
know which place to go, so stop at the Tiger Lane & discuss about it.
We all said they are planning story to cheat us. Goon also scolded June & Francis for
teasing Ho.
30 May 73 (wed)
Tonight, one of the Torsco staff Gomez is getting
married, at the last minute we decided to go.
Missed our book-keeping class, at 8.30 pm the driver
came & fetch us, I wore my black velvet, I looked very fair.
These was the lousiest dinner I’ve ever attended,
nothing to eat, the food all smell bad. We
were all still hungry after the dinner, so asked Mrs. Wong used the Company car
drive us to Menglembu to eat 云吞面, before we go, to Mr. Goon’s
house, and asked his permission, Mrs. Goon asked us to come down, she spent us 棕 she made herself, Mr. Goon show us the slide, about twelve before he
sent us home.
31 May 73 (Thur)
Got my salary.
Mum came to our office today, spent Mrs. Wong, Shir
& me 光兴, after lunch, chat at our office.
To Kinta, cheap sale, bought a bottle of Avon perfume
talc, costs me 8.00$, heartache, raining, we went back by trishaw.
Bought a powder box at Perak Emporium. Returned 40$ to Mum, 供会20$,
gave Mum 20$, lunch 10$, broke again.
